Gaming Couple Levels Up, Finding the Familiar in New Home

Video game designer Spencer Stuard and his wife, video game producer Siobhan, had just moved into their new home in Encino, California when COVID hit. Like many people working in entertainment at the time, they began working from home.

And like many people who work from home, they began questioning where “home” really is.

“I grew up in Park City, Utah, and my wife grew up in Cody, Wyoming, so moving back to the Rocky Mountains and the Midwest felt like a return to our roots. We initially considered Heber, Utah, but ultimately, Fort Collins, Colorado felt like the right mix of familiarity and new adventure for both of us,” Spencer said.

Their home in California had appreciated in value, putting Spencer and Siobhan in a position to take advantage of the equity and buy a house they loved in a community that felt like home.

Spencer’s parents connected the couple to some friends who had recently purchased a home in Kitchel Lake at Saratoga Falls by Trumark Homes in Timnath, Colorado. A 2018 biking trip with a college friend had already put the area on Spencer’s radar, and his family friends’ experience reinforced the feeling that Timnath was worth considering.

“After hearing about their positive experiences with Trumark Homes and Timnath’s growth potential, it was an easy decision,” Spencer said. “They had done extensive research, so after conversations with them and the Trumark sales team, we decided it was the right fit for us.”

With both ranch and two-story floor plans, unfinished basements and standard three-car garages, Kitchel Lake by Trumark Homes features single-family homes on large 65-foot-wide lots centered around a lake – making it ideal for young families who seek beauty in and outside their homes.

Timnath offers many biking, hiking, walking and running trails, including the 21-mile Poudre River Trail. And being close to family in Utah and Wyoming – as well as to Denver's International Airport – Timnath has everything the couple was looking for in a community.

“We love the vibrant university-town atmosphere, which brings great dining, entertainment and a welcoming community,” he said. “Plus, we’re excited to explore the Colorado Rockies and nearby ski towns with our two Rhodesian Ridgeback dogs.”

The second-time homebuyers knew what they wanted in home, and they appreciated the attention, updates and easy flow of communication from the Trumark Homes team through the entire process, including during the five months the Stuards spent in Utah while their home was being built.

“Trumark Homes made the homebuilding process enjoyable, allowing us to focus on the fun aspects while they executed our vision flawlessly. We felt involved, valued and excited throughout the build,” Spencer said. “Buying a home can be stressful, but thanks to Trumark, the process felt effortless.”

The result is a home that the Stuards love.

“As my wife and I continue our careers in this new chapter, our home provides a strong foundation for our future,” he said.

When they moved in, the Stuards were welcomed by neighbors bearing candy and homemade bread. Walking their dogs, they’ve been excited to see the community grow.

“We’ve only just begun exploring the area, and it already feels like home.”
