Memorial Day Weekend Events in California

Over 43 million Americans will kick their summers off by traveling this Memorial Day. Enjoy the freedom provided by our armed forces by spending time with friends and family while not forgetting the reason for this special day. Here at Trumark Homes, we believe there are plenty of great events that don’t require the burden of traveling. From services and parades to beach parties and brunches, we’ve rounded up the best events in the area for you to celebrate our country this Memorial Day.

Southern California

For those in the Santa Ana, Anaheim, and Ontario area, the Orange County Music Fest is just a short distance away on Irvine Lake. This festival will feature more than 20 local bands over the weekend, and is a great event for the whole family as children under 12 get free admittance. Whether you’re heading over for the day or camping for the weekend, the OC Music Festival is a fun place to gather and jam with friends and family.

What better place to spend Memorial Day weekend than the beach? Those heading West this long weekend are in for a treat as there is no shortage of activities in this area. Kick off your summer at Newport Dunes, a waterfront resort and marina located in Newport Beach. This Water Park boasts the largest inflatable obstacle course in Southern California, along with amazing watercraft rentals. New to their watercraft fleet are paddleboards by Radiant Rides, which come equipped with lights that illuminate the water beneath you. Another fun activity at Newport Dunes is The Annual Liquid Run – a challenging, but fun obstacle course to test your skills. With waterfront dining, live entertainment, and even beachfront cottages, Newport Dunes is the perfect place to start your summer this Memorial Day.

With the start of summer comes more chances to get out on the water. Celebrate the long weekend with a relaxing Memorial Day Champagne Cruise out of Newport Beach or Marina Del Rey. Enjoy the soft ocean breeze, music, and gorgeous views of the coast and sea life. Visit this link for more information and to purchase your tickets.

Northern California

Trumark residents at our Dublin location have San Francisco and the rest of the Bay Area at a close distance, and there is no shortage of Memorial Day weekend fun here. Take a Memorial Day cruise on the scenic San Francisco Bay and enjoy amazing views of the Golden Gate Bridge and live music as you enjoy a brunch buffet with champagne.

The largest event in the Bay Area this weekend is the Memorial Day Ceremony at the National Cemetery. While it is less of a celebration and more of a ceremony, this is a way to observe Memorial Day as it was intended, and the best place to pay tribute to our veterans.

Another huge celebration on Memorial Day weekend is Carnaval San Francisco. While this is a festival that celebrates Latin American and Caribbean traditions, it is important to remember that these types of cultural events are possible in our great country because of the sacrifice our armed forces have made for our freedom.

Six Epic California Road Trip Ideas

“A road trip is a way for the whole family to spend time together and annoy each other in interesting new places.” – Tom Lichtenheld

With the official first day of summer just around the corner, it’s time to channel your inner Jack Kerouac and start planning that perfect family road trip. Hitting the road with your family is a great way to deepen bonds and spend quality time together. In between the ‘are we there yet?’s and arguments over stolen phone chargers, road trips allow for families to grow closer and learn more about one another, regardless of the destination. With picturesque national parks, vibrant cities and everything in between – California has all the ingredients for an epic road trip experience. Don’t know where to start? Don’t worry – we have put together a list of the best road trip routes in Northern and Southern California that are sure to satisfy even the most serious case of wanderlust.

Northern California

Highlighted by towering redwood trees and scenic ocean views, Northern California is a road-tripper’s dreamland. Residents at our NorCal Trumark Homes locations are blessed with endless travel destinations in their backyards, from bustling cities to sprawling national parks.

One of the most convenient destinations from the Bay Area is Lake Tahoe. With endless water-sport options, including boating, kayaking, and canoeing, it’s the perfect destination for family fun. While there, Emerald Bay is a must-see in the South Lake Tahoe area. Sheltered by towering trees, this inlet is known for its colorful granite cliffs and panoramic vistas. Also, make sure to check out  Mt. Tallac, one of the highest peaks on Lake Tahoe, offering many one-of-a-kind trails ranging in difficulty.

Only about 3 hours from the Bay Area lies our next NorCal road trip gem – Yosemite National Park. Driving through Yosemite is an experience in itself, but this national park also offers plenty of family-friendly activities, including hiking, fishing, camping, and more. Among the many ‘must see’ spots at Yosemite is Tunnel View, offering the best vistas of El Capitan, Half Dome, and Bridalveil Fall.

The final spot on our NorCal road trip list is the picturesque  Mendocino County. The drive to this place is unforgettable, featuring deep cliffs, crashing waves, and green wilderness. Tzo start planning your road trip to Mendocino County, check out this awesome trip guide.

Southern California

Southern California offers equally as spectacular road trip destinations as the Northern part of the state. About three hours northeast from Los Angeles is the Sequoia National Forest and Park. Sequoia and the Giant Forest is home to half of the Earth’s largest and longest-living trees. In particular, The General Sherman Tree is a must see attraction, as it is officially the largest tree in the world! Enjoy the wonders of Sequoia National Park from the comfort of your own car, or take the path less traveled in its endless miles of hiking trails.

Next up on our SoCal road trip list is less than a two hour drive from our Anaheim and Chino Hills locations – Joshua Tree National Park. Known for its world-class hiking, horseback riding, biking, stargazing, and tons of other great outdoor activities, Joshua Tree is a great place to sightsee with family. A photographer’s dream world, this desert landscape is full of amazing scenery. Joshua Tree is also home to local art, music, food, lodging, events, and festivals making it a must-see for SoCal natives and beyond.

For those longing for a beachier road trip should look no further than the beautiful drive from the Los Angeles area to San Diego, featuring scenic stops such as Huntington Beach, Encinitas, and La Jolla, along the way. Construction Dive: Trumark Homes Announces Six New Acquisitions Across California

Award-Winning Homebuilder to Close on Six Parcels in First Two Quarters of 2019 Representing $541M in Projected Revenues

Newport Beach Calif. (MAY 8, 2019) – Trumark Homes, a national award-winning California homebuilder, announced today it recently acquired a 4.6-acre land parcel in Brea, CA, purchased from J.H. Real Estate Partners, Inc. and located within the Central Park Village master plan. In addition to this new Southern California site, Trumark Homes will close on five additional acquisitions across California, totaling 450 residential lots and an estimated $541M in projected revenues. With robust demand in attractive suburban markets, the homebuilder’s new acquisitions precede an exciting wave of new communities taking shape across the state.

“In each of these vibrant target markets, our team identified unique opportunities to acquire parcels and add significant value by improving or changing existing entitlements,” said Michael Maples, Co-Founder and Principal of Trumark Homes. “Most of these acquisitions started in 2017 or before, so we are pleased with the strategic timing of each closing as it fills our pipeline for future market demand.”

The Brea acquisition will consist of 62 three-story attached townhomes and 20 stacked flats. Located on the corner of W. Central Avenue and Site Drive in Brea, the project lies across from a new one-acre community park and four-story medical office building. The entrance will serve as a pedestrian plaza area and provide a rich environment for engagement and community with an enhanced street frontage, water feature and pedestrian paths. The community will offer multiple design layouts per floor, allowing buyers the option to select a design layout of their choice per floor to create the ultimate customizable home. Pre-sales are slated to launch in fall 2019 and models expected to open in spring 2020.

By the end of this month Trumark will complete acquisitions on a total of six properties in 2019. In addition to the Brea property, the Southern California division is closing on a former avocado orchard re-entitled for 95 residential lots in Escondido. Trumark’s Northern California division will close on the company’s first age-qualified community of 59 lots located in The Collective master planned community in Manteca, an 18 luxury-home community in Danville, a 59-lot parcel in Sunnyvale, and a 138-unit project in Newark.

“This volume of closings in such a short period of time is a testament to our team’s incredible efforts and success in deal making, problem solving and tenacity, as we continue to build momentum as a company,” said Gregg Nelson, Co-Founder and Principal of Trumark Homes.
