8 Tips For Stress-free Moving

Once the official papers are signed, it’s time to start planning the move. Moving is a fun and exciting time, but it’s easy to get overwhelmed with how much there is to do, and just how little time we have to do it. We’re here to help! Check out these easy tips for a seamless and stress-free transition into your new #Trumark home.

What to do before the move:

  1.   Plan. To help you destress on the day of the move, research and find a moving company using Better Business Bureau. Get the layout of your new home and use it as a guide to help you plan what you want your new home to look like, room by room.
  2.   Start packing… right now. Even if you’re months away from the move, start packing a little bit each day. Take this time as an excuse to go through your things and see what is worth donating or selling and what is worth keeping; we suggest you donate items to Goodwill, or sell your items on Poshmark. Make sure to pack the non-essential items first, and don’t forget to label your boxes!
  3.   Tell people you are moving! Of course be sure to tell your family and friends, but also make sure to change your postal address, tell your bank, online accounts, and any subscriptions you have about the move to ensure that all of your mail is going to the correct place.
  4. Don’t forget the small stuff. The day of your move, make sure to have one final walk through of your empty house. Make sure you aren’t leaving anything behind, and if you were renting, make sure to note of any damages in the home. Before you leave, be sure that the thermostat is turned off- you don’t want your final utilities bill to be off the charts.

What to do when you have moved:

  1.    Open your “open first” labeled boxes. Start the unpacking process with opening up all of the essential items that you need immediately. These items should be in boxes labeled “open first”. Also, don’t forget to purchase other necessary items like toilet paper, paper towels, and soap before the big moving day.
  2.    Only focus on unpacking on the day of your move. You can go a week without having cable or WiFi, but you can’t go a week without your coffee pot!  Schedule your utilities to be installed and set up after the first day of being in your new home and only focus on unpacking for those first 24 hours.
  3.    Throw a housewarming party. You are all moved in- for the most part- and it is time to celebrate! Invite your friends and family, pull out a bottle of wine, and enjoy your new home with those around you…you deserve it.

Neighborhood Spotlight: Anaheim

Home to sunny skies, warm weather, and the infamous mouse, Mickey, Anaheim is a family-friendly place to live with plenty of options for food, fun and entertainment. From a chic food hall to historic library, there is somewhere for everyone in the city of Anaheim.

Perfectly located, far enough from Los Angeles traffic and close enough to the Orange County beaches, Anaheim gives its city dwellers and tourists the perfect opportunity to experience many aspects of ‘California Living’. From the Anaheim packing district, to catching a game at Angels stadium or the Honda Center, to experiencing Disneyland, California Adventure and Downtown Disney, there is never a dull moment in Anaheim.

First Stop: You’ve reached foodie heaven.

Nestled in the heart of Anaheim, Anaheim Packing District was built in 1919. It has been transformed from a former orange packaging facility into a trendy foodie’s dream house. From Indian food, to a grilled cheese bar, to tasty crepes, smoothies, shaved show, bubble tea, burgers and more, the Packing District truly has something for all of your cravings. Come one, come all, for a delicious experience for all ages to choose a meal that they will thoroughly enjoy.

Second Stop: Watch a game.

Anaheim has the modern stadium, home to the Angels, a fantastic place for family and friend bonding. You can take a “behind-the-scenes” tour of the Angel Stadium or enjoy some nachos and a beer for a legendary game.

Next up, head over to the Honda Center for an enjoyable hockey game experience with the Anaheim Ducks, which are always fast-paced and exciting.

Last Stop: Because your Anaheim experience wouldn’t be complete without Disneyland!

For a jam-packed day of nonstop fun, take a trip to Disneyland and California Adventure. Enjoy churros, paradise pier ice cream, the happiest place on earth, and endless rides including: Space Mountain, Soaring through California, the Matterhorn, Toontown, Autotopia, Haunted Mansion and Splash Mountain, to name a few. You can’t help but smile when seeing all of the Disney characters wandering around the park. For an even more exciting experience, visit during the holidays to see all of the festive decorations. Or better yet, as residents of Anaheim, annual passes could be your best bet. You can enjoy all of the seasons that Disneyland and California Adventure has to offer.

Not to mention all of the incredible dinner and dessert options at Downtown Disney. It is conveniently located in the heart of all the action next to the park. If you need mouse ears, this is the place to stop, as the options are more endless in the Disney store than they are in the actual park.

Grab your camera, friends, and family for a memorable time in Anaheim.

Valentine’s Day Ideas for Every Relationship Stage

Whether you are just getting to know someone or have been married for 20+ years, here are some different date and gift ideas for every relationship stage.

For Every Stage

Handwrite a note. You can make someone feel extra special by acknowledging you care for them in a quick hand-written letter. In today’s technology-centric world, it is easy to get caught up in sending a quick message with emojis to show that you care. However, Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to handwrite a special note – it means more nowadays  than it has ever before.

For the “Almost Officials”

What better way to take the pressure off and enjoy your special someone’s company than with their favorite sweet treat. Ice cream is a great way to celebrate the day of romance.

Creams and Dreams is a wonderful option for Chino Hills residents. They serve liquid nitrogen ice cream, premium coffee, tea and pastries.

For the Ontario residents, check out CREAM. They create the perfect ice cream sandwich made with your choice of freshly-baked cookies and a variety of ice cream flavors.

Calling all Anaheim residents over to Han’s Homemade Ice Cream, where all ice cream is made fresh in the original location, sourcing cream from local dairies.

For those “Going Steady’

Take your significant other to a comedy show to laugh the night away.

The Murder Mystery Dinner Theater in Anaheim puts a twist on the typical comedy theater. You’ll be able to tackle a challenging crime while feasting over dinner with your partner.

With different performers almost every night, the Brea Improv Comedy Club is a great option for Chino Hills residents.

At Ontario Improv, enjoy yourself with an entertaining evening of comicality with your partner.

For the “Married Lovebirds”

Take your special someone to Disneyland Park in Anaheim to celebrate your love at the happiest place on Earth.

Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be a ‘nuisance’ any longer. No relationship is the same, so focusing on celebrating the uniqueness of your relationship will ensure that your celebration is one to remember. Express your excitement for the spark that you have with someone, or the forever type of love that you share with your life partner. Whether you’re celebrating with a simple handwritten note or a trip to Disneyland, we hope that these ideas pave the way for the perfect day. Happy celebrating, lovebirds!
